About Us

Columbia School is the oldest and most historical school in the El Monte City School District. The
school opened in September 1922, and, at one point, housed as many as 2,300 students. Our current enrollment is approximately 850 students. All of the original buildings are gone except for the current seventh grade building, which was built in 1935. The administration building and the music building were built in 1941. These were recently modernized with the installation of air-conditioning and elevators, as well as new windows.
